Admiral Metals was founded in 1950 and is part of the Reliance Inc. Family of Companies. That concept of “family” is at the very heart of the way Admiral has operated, extending to our many customers, suppliers, and longstanding employees.
We strive daily to provide the highest quality products and the best customer experience possible, every order, every day. Our enduring relationships with our metal suppliers mean we are able to deliver not only standard metal products but also hard to find items, with precise accuracy, on budget and on time, often overnight.
At Admiral, we take great pride in the people who work here, some for over 40 years. That kind of dedication and reliability is the driving force behind our Admiral Care Team, our crew of service professionals from administrative staff to credit specialists, from sales representatives to the pickers, loaders and the drivers — everyone at Admiral Metals delivering the very best in customer care.

Our History
The Burstein Family founded Admiral Metals in 1950. Fresh out of the Navy, Mac joined his older brothers who had built a successful scrap metal company, M. Burstein & Co. Mac went on to manage a new venture, Admiral Metals, which was a natural outgrowth, originally built on the solid relationships the Burstein family had established with area mills and longstanding customers. Over time, Admiral expanded from serving local companies with mainly red metals, to expanded products and service offerings like grinding, custom extrusions, and so many more.
Our Future
In 2021 Admiral Metals joined the Reliance Family of Companies. For over 70 years, Admiral has grown its footprint to meet demand for its products, adding additional locations; the most recent in Debary, Florida in 2022. The company has added multiple product lines, additional trucks to the fleet, employees to its roster, and countless new pieces of equipment. Continuing to grow, in 2024 Admiral Metals opened a new facility in South Bend, Indiana. Our eye is focused on the future.

Over the Years
1950
Admiral Brass and Copper was founded in Cambridge, MA by the Burstein Family.
1964
Moved from Cambridge to Somerville, MA warehouse; increased from 15,000 sq. ft. to 40,000 sq. ft.
1965
Became full line Aluminum distributor; added Stainless Steel and Beryllium Copper
1968
Expanded sales effort to include CT in addition to MA, NH, ME, & RI
1977
Moved from Somerville to Woburn, MA increasing to 74,000 sq. ft.; added precision plate saws and 24-hour operations
1980
First fully integrated computer system installed company wide
1986
Acquired TE Conklin Co. in NY. With more than one location, Admiral serves NY/NJ along with all of New England
1991
Opened Admiral Rochester serving upstate New York
1996
Opened Admiral Pennsylvania serving PA/MD
1998
Received ISO 9001 certification for all locations
2003
Opened Admiral Ohio serving OH/MI
2017
Opened Admiral Florida serving the Tampa Area
2020
Received AS9100 certification
2021
Admiral Metals was acquired by Reliance Steel and Aluminum Co. and became part of the Reliance Family of Companies.
2022
Opened a new facility in DeBary, Florida
2024
Opened a new facility in South Bend, Indiana
